In the case of government, Fucnstionalists explains governments is necessary for social stability due to multiple reasons that include maintaining order and enforcing laws, directing society, leading international relationships and meeting social needs according to the context. However, equally distributing resources is not one of the main purposes of government as the purpose of government is not to guarantee everyone has the same resources and indeed according to Functionalist perspective inequality is necessary.
