To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:

1. You have that Addison whines 2 minutes for every 3 minutes Wyatt whines. And they whine a total of 45 minutes. Therefore, you can make the following system of equations, where x is the minutes that Wyatt whines and y the minutes that Addison whines:

\left \{ {{x=\frac{3}{2}y } \atop {x+y=45}} \right.

2. You can solve it by the Method of subtitution:

x+y=45

\frac{3}{2}y+y=45

\frac{5}{2}y=45

y=18

3. Now, calculate x

x+18=45

x=27

Therefore, the answer is: Addison whined for 18 minutes.

What is the solution to the following system of linear equations?
OverLord2011 [107]
There are two ways to solve system of equations.

1) substitution method

2) elimination method

4x - y = -6

x - 2y = -5

For thus problem, i'll be using the substitute method.

So, using the equation x - 2y = -5:

Solve for "x" by adding 2y to both sides of the equation.

x = 2y - 5

Now we know what "x" is, we can substitute it in the other equation.

4x - y = -6

4(2y - 5) - y = -6

8y - 20 - y = -6

7y - 20 = -6

7y = 14

y = 2

We now know the numerical value of y. So, all we have to do is plug in y into either system of equation to solve for the numerical value of x.

4x - 2 = -6 x - 2y = -5

4x = -4 x - 2(2) = -5

x = -1 x - 4 = -5

x = -1

The solution is (-1, 2) where x equals -1 and y equals 2.

If a + 7b + 4c = 2, what is 36c + 9a + 63b?
kozerog [31]

Answer:

18

Step-by-step explanation:

a + 7b + 4c = 2,

Multiply this equation by 9

9( a + 7b + 4c) = 2*9

9a + 63b +36c = 18

Rearrange the order

36c +9a +63b = 18
