At a video store, you have two options for renting movies. You can pay $4 per movie, or you can pay a one-time membership fee of

$10 and then pay only $1.50 per movie. After how many movie rentals will the cost of renting movies with the membership be less than the cost of renting movies without the membership?

Let x stand for a movie.

You can pay $4 every movie or $1.50 for every movie plus the original $10

    4x = 1.50x +10

-1.50x  -1.50x     (Subtraction Property of Equality)

  2.50x = 10

/2.50     /2.50   (Division Property of Equality)

x = 4

After 4 movies, the membership will cost less.

A prop for the theater club’s play is constructed as a cone topped with a half-sphere. What is the volume of the prop? Round you
marta [7]

Volume of cone formula: V = PI x r^2 x h/3

Volume of sphere formula: 4/3 x PI x r^3

Cone: 3.14 x 9^2 x 9/3 = 763.02 cubic inches

1/2 sphere: 1/2 x 4/3 x 3.14 x 9^3 = 1526.04 cubic inches.

Total volume : 1526.04 + 763.02 = 2289.1 cubic inches
