The highest number rounded to 500 is 499.. why is this answer incorrect and what is the correct answer..

Why is this answer incorrect?

There are decimal places that are closer to 500.

What is the correct answer?

I believe it would be 499.9 with a bar over the last 9

Answer:

The answer is incorrect because 499.9 which is higher than 499 with 0.9 can also be rounded up to 500.

First you must distribute the 2x to the numbers inside the parentheses

(2x * x) + (2x * -1) = 3

$2x^{2}$ - 2x = 3

To make this a quadratic equation you can solve bring the 3 over to the left side of the equation by subtracting it to both sides

$2x^{2}$ - 2x - 3 = 0

Remember that quadratic functions are set up like so:

b = -2
