The scientific name was created to establish a standardized language that would allow scientists and scholars around the world to be able to present living beings independently of their native language.
For this purpose, it was decided that the scientific name would be a binomial composition, that is, it would use two names. The first name refers to the genus to which the species belongs, the second name refers to the specific epithet that is the specific descriptor of that species. In addition, the scientific name should be written in italics and have the first initial letter written in uppercase. Ex: <em>Homo sapiens</em>.
