Do the indicated mult. first:

7v - 2v + 16 = 5v + 20
     5v   +      = 5v  +20.  This is never true.  NO solution.

Cidnee is weighing combinations of geometric solids. She found that 4 cylinders and 5 prisms weigh 32 ounces and that 1 cylinder
vitfil [10]

Answer:

The weights of each cylinder and prism are 3 and 4 ounces, respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let be x and y the masses of a cylinder and a prism, measured in ounces, respectively. After a careful reading of the statement we get the following linear equations by interpretation:

i) <em>She found that 4 cylinders and 5 prisms weigh 32 ounces:</em>

4\cdot x +5\cdot y = 32\,oz (Eq. 1)

ii) <em>And that 1 cylinder and 8 prisms weigh 35 ounces:</em>

x + 8\cdot y = 35\,oz (Eq. 2)

Now we solve the system of linear equations algebraically:

From (Eq. 2):

x = 35 - 8\cdot y

(Eq. 2) is (Eq. 1):

4\cdot (35-8\cdot y) + 5\cdot y = 32

140-32\cdot y +5\cdot y = 32

32\cdot y - 5\cdot y = 140-32

27\cdot y = 108

y = 4\,oz

From (Eq. 2):

x = 35 - 8\cdot (4)

x = 35 - 32

x = 3\,oz

The weights of each cylinder and prism are 3 and 4 ounces, respectively.

Archy [21]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok so if u are shipping boxes in a right rectangular prism u will need to either divide or multiply. if he wants to make each box to be exactly 98 cubic feet then he will need to divide so when u do the u will need to find the first part of the answer then u will divide it by 98 cubic feet :> hope u get what i meant

How do I solve The sum of a number and 3 is subtracted from 10 the result is 5
meriva

State the given in the question

Given that the sum of a number and 3 is subtracted from, the result is 5

State what is to be found in the question

We are to find the number. In other to achieve this, we would follow the steps below:

Step 1: Represent the number with an unknown

Let x represent the number

Step 2: Interpret the given statement mathematically

If x is the number, then the sum of the number and 3 would be

x+3

Then the sum of a number and 3 subtracted from 10 would be

10-(x+3)

Finally, when the sum of a number and 3 subtracted from 10, the result is 5, would be

10-(x+3)=5

Step 3: Solve for x in the mathematical interpretation of the given statement

The value of x is as calculated as shown below:

\begin{gathered} 10-(x+3)=5 \\ \text{Open the bracket or the parenthesis} \\ 10-x-3=5 \\ \text{collect like terms} \\ 10-3-5=x \\ 7-5=x \\ 2=x \\ \text{Therefore:} \\ x=2 \end{gathered}

Hence, the number is 5

-4/5, -1/2, 0.25, -0.2 least to greatest
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

<em>-4/5,-1/2,-0.2,0.25</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

To order these, it would be best to convert them into decimals.

-4/5 is equal to -0.8

-1/2 is equal to -0.5

-0.8 is the least, because the further left on a number line, the less the number is.

-0.5 is next and then -0.2

Finally, 0.2 is the greatest

<em>-4/5,-1/2,-0.2,0.25</em>

<u>Hope this helps :-)</u>
