A golf club is swung and strikes a golf ball with a force of 12.2 N. The golf ball accelerates at 265.2 m/s2 (wow) Determine the
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

F = m A (Newton #2)

m = F/A

m = (12.2 N) / (265.2 m/s²)

m = (12.2 / 265.2) kg

m = 0.046 kg

(46 grams; not bad; the international standard is "not more than 45.93 grams")

Note: 265.2 m/s² = about 27 G's . Seems to me like that would rip the ball to shreds, but I don't really know anything about golf.)

How does friction affect energy
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

Friction is a resistive force to motion. When two bodies move against each other some of the kinetic energy is converted to heat energy due to friction. This reduces the total kinetic energy in the system.

kondaur [170]

The tiger's position at time t is given by

x (horizontal) = (4.5 m/s) t

y (vertical) = 7.5 m - 1/2 gt ²

Solve y = 0 for t to find the time it takes for the tiger to reach the ground :

0 = 7.5 m - 1/2 (9.8 m/s²) t ²

===> t = √(2 (7.5 m) / (9.8 m/s²)) ≈ 1.2 s

Evaluate x at this time :

x = (4.5 m/s) (1.2 s) ≈ 5.6 m
