The speed of the transit train was 80 miles per hour. The speed of the passenger train was 60 miles per hour.

s1 = 80 mi/h
s2 = 60 mi/h

t(80+60)=280

t= 2 hr

3+2 is 5 so at 5:00 PM they will pass each other
