Constituted the overseas colonies, protectorates and mandate territories that came under French rule from the 16th century onward. A distinction is generally made between the "first colonial empire", that existed until 1814, by which time most of it had been lost, and the "second colonial empire", which began with the conquest of Algiers in 1830. The second empire came to an end after the loss of bitter wars in Vietnam (1955) and Algeria (1962), and peaceful decolonization elsewhere after 1960.

The correct answer is C. Our strength is our unity of purpose.
Both excerpts aim to show that only united people can overcome difficulties. Roosevelt had to lead his people out of the Great Depression, and Lincoln out of the Civil War. So both times people had to endure difficult times, and their Presidents wanted them to be united for that.

Is it true that early humans made the woolly mammoth go extinct or was there other factors that made them go extinct?
borishaifa [10]
There were of course other factors. While early humans did hunt them a lot due to the profits which they received from it (A lot of food, bones they could use for homes, fur they could use for clothing, etc.), there were also other factors such as less food for them which made them less mobile through different geographical regions, etc. (and therefore more susceptible to being hunted) that had played a part in their extinction.
