Step-by-step explanation:

Since this figure is a parallelogram, the opposite sides of the parallelogram are congruent, therefore:

2y-9 = y-2 and 3x+1 = 5x-1

y and x can now be found algebraically:

2y-9 = y-2              3x+1 = 5x-1

3y-9 = -2                -2x+1 = -1

3y = 7                     -2x = -2

y = 7/3                     x = 1

So y is 7/3 and x is 1. When showing your work I would also mark the opposite sides of the parallelogram as congruent to one another (see image as reference).
