A ratio is really just a fraction that looks cool.
1)So, find all the quadrilaterals (a shape that has four sides.)

2)There are 12 quadrilaterals out of the 30 shapes in all.

3) Now put it as a fraction to simplify
12/6 2
— = —
30/6 5
4) You can change it back to a ratio now that it is simplified

so a quadrilateral is a figure with 4 sides. So looking at the picture I see 5 rhombi and 7 squares. So all together thats 12 quadrilaterals

So to find the ration you have to do:

amount of thing: whole

so in this case it would be

12:24

which you can simplify

normally you'd simplify to 1:2 but that doesn't seem like an option so I'd go with the one closest to that ratio

Mario received 0.40 in change from 20 when he bought tail mix. How many pounds of tail mix did Mario buy?
Katen [24]
So making a simple equation helps to get all the information together

20 - 3.5X = 0.4

20 is the original. Minus the amount you paid for. equals the cash you got back

subtract 20 over

-3.5X=-19.6
Then divide both sides by -3.5
X=5.6

He bought 5.6 pounds

How to use graphing to find the solutions to the system of equations?
gayaneshka [121]
Once ur lines are graphed, the solution is where the lines intersect. So by graphing however many equations u have, the point where they intersect is the solution....unless of course u have parallel lines, then there is no solution. And if ur lines are coincident, the same line on top of each other, then there is infinite solutions.
