Explanation:

The energy transformation that occurs to enable life begins in autotrophs.

Autotrophs are organisms, mostly plants that are capable of manufacturing food from chemical substances around.

Most plants, autotrophs, uses light energy from the sunlight to carry out the process of photosynthesis by which they manufacture their own food in nature.

During photosynthesis, green plants combines carbon dioxide and water together in the presence of sunlight to produce glucose and waste as oxygen.

The glucose produced stores potential chemical energy in carbon chains.

Organisms that depends on foods manufactured by plants are heterotrophs.

During metabolism, they take the glucose and carry the chemical energy away in form of ATP(Adenosine Triphospate). When a single phosphate is released from the ATP, chemical energy is converted to heat energy.

Heterotrophs are mostly animals.
