He slit the throat. He wanted to become a war hero.

Explanation:

  • Macbeth will try to get the power from Duncan. At a military camp near his palace at Forres, King Duncan of Scotland asks a wounded captain for news about the Scots’ battle with the Irish invaders. The captain, who was wounded helping Duncan’s son Malcolm escape capture by the Irish, replies that the Scottish generals Macbeth and Banquo fought with great courage and violence.
  • Macbeth is a tragic hero because a grave error of judgment and his own ambition cause him to murder Duncan, leading to chaos, destruction, and eventually his own death.
  • Macbeth is looked upon as a man of great ambition but soon he is tempted to make a terrible mistake that blinds his ambition. Macbeth, on the other hand, believes his ambition will not be checked by consequence. These delusions of grandeur are furthered by the witches.

Which verb mood would work best for expressing a wish that is unlikely to come true?
noname [10]
The subjunctive mood is the best.

The subjunctive is rarely used in colloquial English. Totally irrelevant information, but... it is a relic from Latin, where there are many uses for a subjunctive. There is even a special conditional using the subjunctive mood that expresses the exact circumstances you described, which is usually called future less vivid.

What effect does the setting have on the plot at the beginning of the story
Kipish [7]
By giving the setting at the beginning of a story, it gives the reader an idea of what the plot will look like. If the setting of a story is in a haunted mansion on Halloween night, the reader has an idea that the plot will probably involve ghosts, chasing, capture, etc. Basically any Scooby-Doo movie ever. All in all, the setting gives the reader an idea of how the plot will lay out.
