Drawing Conclusions Many high schools throughout the United States have faced a serious shortage of math and science teachers. M

any prospective teachers choose to go into business and industry because of higher salaries. In some communities, businesses are “loaning” employees who want to teach part-time to schools to fill the math and science teacher gap. Does this scenario illustrate scarcity? Why or why not?

Answer:

Yes.

Explanation:

Scarcity represents the shortage or limited availability of commodity or services. The same commodity or service is also in demand in the market. The opposite of scarcity is an abundance. Scarcity of teachers is happening due to the prospective and better conditions in business and other industries, for example higher salaries. In order to increase the supply of math and science teachers, government needs to invest into education and schooling of high-skilled scientists. Also, it should improve the working conditions in high schools and universities, by increasing salaries and bonuses, to compete with private business sector.

1. What were the major influences on Thomas Hobbes’s thinking?
nikklg [1K]
1. Hobbes’s major influence was what he experienced during the English civil wars, as, since he was a royalist, he was afraid of persecution if parliament went against the king.

2. Hobbes presented the argument that the only correct form of government is an absolute monarchy. The reason for this is so that all important decisions can be carried out/decided upon quickly by one, intelligent ruler.

3. Hobbes’s ideas of people being selfish influenced groups such as the federalists, which wanted to have the U.S. Constitution
