Answer:

Phoneme may be defined as the sound unit that helps to distinguish between the different sounds. Minimal pairs or different language of words are used in phonemes.

The children has well developed ability to catch the phonemes. The one year old child can produce phonemes from both the parents and grandparents language.  The baby has equal ability to understand the different languages and perceive different words.
