Business owners like to know how their decisions will affect their business. Before making decisions, owners may explore the ben

efits of hypothesis testing. By making such tests, they can have more confidence in their decisions. One example is Joe Smith who is testing to see whether the company's gym shoe will have a significant difference on weight loss. If the company markets this shoe and finds that it does not cause weight loss as expected, they may want to consider their marketing strategy or dropping the campaign all together. What is a scenario of how hypothesis testing can be used in the business world

Hypothesis testing can be used as a way to test variables that will directly affect the outcome expected by a company. Through the statistical effect, it is possible to know the causes and effects that some management decision may affect the results and then the decision making happens more effectively, because the hopesis test is a sampling of a possible real scenario, because it uses real data, and thus opens room for correction of flaws and adequacy of the marketing strategy.

20. Which of the following is not a difference between monopolies and perfectly competitive markets? a. Monopolies can earn prof
Naily [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is option c.

Explanation:

A perfectly competitive market has a large number of buyers and sellers. The firms are price takers and the price is determined by the market forces. Thus the monopoly firms face a horizontal demand curve. This horizontal line represents price, average revenue, and marginal revenue. The equilibrium is obtained where price, (average revenue and marginal revenue) is equal to marginal cost. There is no restriction on entry and exit of firms in the long run. That's why firms face a break-even in the long run.

While in a monopoly market there is a single firm. This firm fixes price higher than marginal cost. The demand curve of the monopoly is a downward sloping showing relatively elastic demand. A monopoly firm can earn profits in both the short run as well as the long run.
