FALSE.

Many cases of human rights violations are reported daily, not only in the US but worldwide. The Government must take measures to avoid this type of situation. For example, in some cases of deportation of immigrants, human rights are not being respected properly and the government is directly associated with it. There are also situations of child labor, violence against political minorities: women, gays, blacks. The Government does not have an attitude of protagonist in the defense of the human rights.

Northerners lived in cities, and towns with bustling factories and the Industrial Revolution was booming and slaves weren't important to them at all. Southerners didn't have to pay for workers therefore slavery was important to their income and profit.
