Amit and Tiana simplified the expression -4 [8 + (-6) +3] in different ways Amit`s first step was to add the three numbers withi

n the brackets. Tiana`s first step was to multiply each of the number within the brackets by -4. Part A:- Write an expression to represent Tiana`s first step. In the expresssion,show which numbers are being multiplied together,but don`t find each of the products. Part B:- What should Tiana have writtern as the product when she multiplied -6 by -4.

Part A: <u>(8 × (-4))</u>  <u>(-6 × (-4))</u>  <u>(3 × (-4))</u>

Part B: -6 × -4 = 24. So when multiplying -6 by -4, the product should be <u>24</u>

But basically, Tiana's way of solving this question is correct while Amit's is incorrect.And this is because Amit is using PEMDAS, unlike Tiana.

The function y=f(x) is graphed below. What is the average rate of change of the function f(x) on the interval -6&lt;= x &lt;= 6?
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

- 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The average rate of change of f(x) in the closed interval [ a, b ] is

\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}

Here [ a, b ] = [ - 6, 6 ]

From the graph

f(b) = f(6) = - 2

f(a) = f(- 6) = 10 , thus

average rate of change = \frac{-2-10}{6-(-6)} = \frac{-12}{12} = - 1

A trapezoid has 9.2 inches base and 3.5 inches base, as well as 17 inches height. What is the area?
Tju [1.3M]
107.95in^{2}

The area of a trapezoid is as follows:

A = \frac{a + b}{2} h

A and B are the lengths of the parallel lines of trapezoids. The parallel lines in this problem are 3.5 and 9.2. After adding those and dividing by 2, we multiply 17 to find the area of the trapezoid. (This is also shown in the attached picture)

Is 147 a perfect square? Give reasons
gregori [183]
147 is not a perfect square. The reason 147 is not a perfect square is because, we know that 144 is a perfect square because you can divide it by 12. So that means that your square root would be inbetween 12 and 13. If you multiple 12•12 you get 144. And if you multiply 13•13 you get 169. So neither of those numbers are equal 147 so 147 is NOT a square but the closest square root is 12.

A four-sided die is rolled repeatedly, until the first time (if ever) that an even number is obtained. What is the sample space
Andrew [12]

Answer:

Sample space by its definition is termed as the list of all the possible outcomes of an experiment.

Therefore, the sample space for this experiment rolling a four-sided die will be: {1, 2, 3, 4}

Step-by-step explanation:

When you roll a a four-sided die, number of dots on uppermost face is said to be an outcome.

For example,  whenever a four-sided die is rolled we can get either 1, 2,3 or 4 dots on the upper most face as an outcome.

As we know that rolling a four-sided die will bring the following possible outcomes: {1, 2, 3, 4}

Possibilities of the number being even (2 and 4) = 2

Probability of the number being even = 2/4 = 1/2

Sample space by its definition is termed as the list of all the possible outcomes of an experiment.

As we have already determined that rolling a four-sided die will bring the following possible outcomes: {1, 2, 3, 4}

Therefore, the sample space for this experiment will be: {1, 2, 3, 4}

Keywords: sample space, 4-sided dice
