1.) 3(5 - 2x) = -2(6 - 3x) - 10x
15 - 6x = -12 + 6x - 10x
-6x - 6x + 10x = -12 - 15
-2x = -27
x = -27/-2 = 13.5
x = 13.5

2.) 1/4x - 2/5x = 39
-3/20x = 39
x = (39 x 20)/-3 = -260
x = -260

3.) 115 = 20 + 2.5x
2.5x = 115 - 20 = 95
x = 95/2.5 = 38
x = 38

4.) 0.7x - 0.2 = 8.3x + 7.2
8.3x - 0.7x = -0.2 - 7.2 = -7.4
7.6x = -7.4
x = -7.4/7.6 = -37/38
x = -37/38

Combine the following fractions by addition or subtraction as directed.
Marina86 [1]
Answer:\frac{6}{y^2-xy}-\frac{6}{x^2-xy}=\frac{6(x+y)}{xy(y-x)}

Explanation:

Combining the fractions, we have:

\begin{gathered} \frac{6(x^2-xy)-6(y^2-xy)}{(x^2-xy)(y^2-xy)} \\  \\ =\frac{6x^2-6xy-6y^2+6xy}{(x^2-xy)(y^2-xy)} \\  \\ =\frac{6x^2-6y^2}{x(x-y).y(y-x)} \\  \\ =\frac{6(x-y)(x+y)}{-xy(x-y)^2} \\  \\ =\frac{-6(x+y)}{xy(x-y)} \\  \\ =\frac{6(x+y)}{xy(y-x)} \end{gathered}

You just bought a new laptop and paid an initial payment of $150.00. You will make 12 payments of $69.50. How much will the comp
Flauer [41]

Using proportions, it is found that the computer will cost $1,043.04.

<h3>What is a proportion?</h3>

A proportion is a fraction of total amount.

In this problem, the total amount is composed by:

  • An initial payment of $150.
  • 12 payments of $69.50.
  • 6% sales tax, which means that the price is increased by 6%, that is, the previous amount is multiplied by 1.06.

Hence, the cost is given by:

C = 1.06 x (150 + 12 x 69.50) = 1043.04.

The computer will cost $1,043.04.

Eli Moran is an accountant at J &amp; R Tax Prep, and during tax season he works overtime to meet the demand. He is paid $32 per
Sati [7]

Answer :

The value of number of hours overtime per week will he needed to achieve his earning goal = 5 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Payment for first 40 hours = $ 32 per hour

Payment over 40 hours = $ 48 per hour

Eli’s goal is to earn = $ 1520 per week ------- (1)

Total payment for first 40 hours = 32 × 40 = $ 1280 ------ (2)

Suppose person worked x_{} hours in overtime, then

The total payment for x_{} hours = 48 × x_{}  = $ 48x_{} ------------ (3)

Total earnings of the person in a week ⇒ $ 1280 +  $ 48x_{} = $ 1520

⇒ 1280 + 48x_{} = 1520

⇒ 48x_{} = 1520 - 1280

⇒ 48x_{} = 240

⇒ x_{} = 5 hours

This is the value of number of hours overtime per week will he needed to achieve his earning goal.
