The cats weight change each week is -1\frac{1}{8} ounces

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that, Melissa put her cat, Herman, on a diet and kept track of his weight.

At the end of 4 weeks, she recorded Herman's weight change as -4\frac{1}{2} ounces.

She noticed that he had lost the same amount of weight each week.

We have to find what is Herman's weight change each week of the diet?

Now, let the weight lost per week be n ounces.

Then, in total he lost 4n ounces in 4 weeks

And we are given that, lost wait is -4\frac{1}{2} ounces

\begin{array}{l}{4 n=-(4 \frac{1}{2}) \text { ounces }} \\\\ {4 n=-(\frac{4 \times 2+1}{2})} \\\\ {4 n=-(\frac{9}{2})} \\\\ {n=-(\frac{9}{8})=-(\frac{8+1}{8})=-1 \frac{1}{8} \text { ounces }}\end{array}

Here negative sign indicates cat is losing weight

Hence, the cats weight change each week is -1\frac{1}{8} ounces

A ladder that is 13 meters long is leaning against a wall. The distance between the foot of the ladder and the wall is 7 meters
Maksim231197 [3]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

The equation that is used to model the length of ladder in terms of x is:

                   x^2-7x-60=0

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

We can model this problem with the help of a right angled triangle whose hypotenuse is 13 meters and the other two legs are x meters and (x-7) meters.

where x is the distance between the top of the ladder and the ground.

and (x-7) is the distance between the foot of the ladder and the wall.

Hence, using Pythagorean Theorem we have:

13^2=x^2+(x-7)^2\\\\i.e.\\\\169=x^2+x^2+49-14x\\\\i.e.\\\\169=2x^2-14x+49\\\\i.e.\\\\2x^2-14x+49-169=0\\\\i.e.\\\\2x^2-14x-120=0\\\\i.e.\\\\x^2-7x-60=0

                 Hence, the answer is:

                  x^2-7x-60=0

The number of different cars sold in some country rose from 210 in 1997 to 277 in 2007. Find the percent increase. Round to the
Virty [35]

Find percent increase by subtracting the amounts and dividing it by the old amount, then multiply the result by 100 to make it a percent.

Increase= (277-210)/210

67/210

Then it ends up as 0.319047619...

Multiply that by 100 to make it a percent, which is..

31.9047619..

Round it off, and you get..

32%!
