Two planes left the same airport traveling in opposite directions. The first plane left at 9:00 a.M. And 2.25 hours later, the t

wo planes were 1825 miles apart. The second plane left at 10:00 a.M. And its average rate was 108 miles per hour slower than the first plane's average rate. Let x represent the first plane's average rate. What was the first plane's average rate?

Answer: x = 560 miles/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

Let speed of first plane = x

Let speed of second plane = y

x-y =108 (first plane is faster)

It took first plane 2.25 hrs to be 1825 miles apart.

Distance moved after 2.25 hrs =2.25x

It took second plane 1.25 hrs to be 1825 miles apart

Distance moved after 1.25 hrs =1.25y

So 2.25x + 1.25y = 1825 --------1

Put x = 108+y in eqn 1

2.25(108+y) + 1.25y= 1825

243 + 3.5y = 1825

3.5y= 1582

y = 452

x = 108 + 452 = 560 miles/hr

Triangle ABC will be dilated according to the rule (x,y), where point F is the center of dilation. What will be the coordinates
Arturiano [62]
To dilate an object using a given scale factor we can multiply the coordinates of the object by the scale factor to get the coordinates of the image. However, this can only be done when the center of dilation is the origin (0,0). For non-origin center of dilation like in our case we have to locate the points of the image by construction in a Cartesian plane using the center and the scale factor. In this case we need to measure the distance of A from a point F (center of dilation) the we multiply it by 0.25 (the scale factor) then using the same path we measure the distance we get to locate point A'. Hence, by so doing point A' will be (1,0).

Dmitrij [34]

The total distance traveled from his house to the restaurant and then back to his house =16+16= 32 miles.

He drove at the constant speed of 0.8 miles per minute.

Total Time taken = \frac{Distance travled}{Speed}\

==\frac{32}{0.8} =\frac{320}{8} =40 minutes.

Answer:

(1/2 ,3) or (0.5, 3) is the same

Step-by-step explanation:

The midpoint between (3,5) and (-2,1) would be:

Apply the formula:

x1+x2 / 2 , y1 + y2 / 2

= 3 + (-2) / 2, 5 + 1 /2

= 1/2, 6/2

= 1/2 ,3 or 0.5, 3 is the same
