Answer:

He thinks so because such a scenario is something humans (including the moviegoers) can relate to - man's desire to escape from himself.

Explanation:

Walker Percy in his book, Lost in the Cosmos relates a scene that is common in most movies. A case in a movie where a man returns to his home and cannot recognize his wife again but is taken to bed by her was one of the examples cited by Percy. He noted that the person watching the movie is excited not because the man has amnesia, but because all his past troubles have been forgotten.

This feeling, Percy noted is something that appeals to people in general. The desire to escape from themselves and forget all of their struggles.

Which words in this excerpt from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe create an ominous and spooky atmosphere?
andrew11 [14]
Words such as 'bleak', 'dying', 'wrought', 'ghost', and 'sorrow' create an ominous and spooky atmosphere in "The Raven". These words have negative connotations, meaning that the words sound dark and frightening to the reader. For instance, if you wanted to create a spooky atmosphere in the following sentence, you might replace the verb with another word that has a more negative connotation.

A chill passed through the room.
A chill crept across the room.

While both sentences mean essentially the same thing, the second sentence sounds scarier because the verb has a more negative connotation.

Hope this helps!
