Answer:

The little blue-gray critters that live under rocks and logs and roll into a ball when disturbed go by many names

Explanation:

The little blue-gray critters that live under rocks and logs and roll into a ball when disturbed go by many names: roly-poly bugs, pillbugs, woodlice, tiggy-hogs, parson-pigs and their scientific name, Armadillidium vulgare. Contrary to popular belief, roly-polies are not even technically bugs. But they do play an important role in ecosystems

bija089 [108]

The right answers are on the attached image.

Baroreflex is a reflex triggered when a baroreceptor is stimulated. In the human body, baroreceptors are found in the carotid sinuses and the sinus of the aorta. These receptors are stimulated during changes in blood pressure. Baroreceptors are sensitive to the stretching of blood vessels.

As blood pressure rises, baroreceptors transmit nerve impulses to the vasomotor center of the medulla oblongata, which is then inhibited. This results in vasodilatation of the blood vessels to reduce blood pressure.

Suppose scientists studying pigmentation in Arabidopsis attempted to alter expression of a pigment gene. Using transgenic techni
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

The correct answer would be RNAi or RNA interference.

It is a technique to down regulate the gene expression, especially at translation level.

In this method, short sequence RNA such as miRNA or siRNA which are complementary to targeted mRNA are used. These are inserted into the cell after which they bind to the mRNA to form a double-stranded mRNA molecule.

Due to double-strand configuration, translation factors and other machinery can not attach to the mRNA.

Consequently, translation can not proceed.

The same is observed in the experiment in which complementary mRNAs bind to each other and prevent translation.

When glucose is unavailable, the liver begins to break down fatty acids to supply the rest of the body with metabolic fuel. Expl
patriot [66]

Answer:

Fatty acid degradation produces acetyl-CoA

When carbohydrate concentrations drop, any available oxaloacetate is diverted to gluconeogenesis to produce the glucose necessary for red blood cell and brain function. If acetyl-CoA cannot enter the citric acid cycle (and acetyl-CoA cannot be converted to pyruvate in mammals), it is converted to ketone bodies.
