Answer: The size of the sample space of  this two-stage experiment is 52 .

Step-by-step explanation:

The given experiment : If heads occurs, then a card is selected at random from the clubs and spades suits. If tails occurs, then a card is selected at random from the hearts and diamonds suits.

For the occurrence of heads, there will be 26 cards which can be chosen from clubs and spades suits.

For the occurrence of tails, there will be 26 cards which can be chosen from hearts and diamonds suits.

Therefore the size of the sample space = 26+26=52.

Which equation is a function of x?<br> A. x=5<br> B. x=y2+9<br> C. x2=y<br> D. x2=y2+16
My name is Ann [436]

A function is a process or a relation that associates each element x of a set X  to a single element y of another set Y.

A. The equation x=5 represents vertical line. This is not a function, because one element x=5 is associated to all (not one) elements of y\in (-\infty,\infty).

B. The equation x=y^2+9 represents parabola that goes in positive x-direction. This is not a function, because each x>9 is associated to two different y. For examlpe, when x=10, then y_1=1,\ y_2=-1.

C. The equation y=x^2 represents parabola that goes in positive y-direction. This is the function, because for each x is associated only one y.

D. The equation x^2=y^2+16 represents hyperbola. This is not a function, because for one x there are two different possible y.

If the Probability of an event happening is 70%, what are the ODDS of the event happening? Group of answer choices 7:10 7:3 10:7
Vladimir [108]

Answer:

The odds of the event happening = 7:3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Probability of an event happening = 70%

To find the odds of the event happening.

Solution:

Odds of an event happening is the ratio of the probability of the event happening and the probability of the event not happening.

Probability of the event not happening will be = 100\%-70\%=30\%

So, the ratio of the probabilities of event happening and not happening can be given as:

⇒ \frac{70\%}{30\%}

⇒  \frac{70}{100}\div \frac{30}{100} [Representing percent in fraction form]

⇒  \frac{70}{100}\times \frac{100}{30} [Replacing division sign with multiplication sign by taking reciprocal of divisor.]

⇒ \frac{70}{30}  [Canceling out the common terms]

⇒ \frac{7}{3}  [Reducing fraction to simplest form]

Thus, odds of the event happening is = 7:3
