1. 15% of students in the 1950 receiving their PhDs were women, that rose to 70% in 2010

2. Half of the APA are women today

3. Mary Whiton Chalkins was the first woman president of the APA

Psychology can be explained as study of mental faculties and behavior. It known to be a multifacet discipline, because it includes many other sub-fields of study, such as health, social behavior among others.

Women and non-white minorities have contributed immensely and still contributing to the field of psychology. Some of their great impacts are but not limited to the ones mentioned as the answer.

* The percentage of african-american students, or racial minority students obtaining their PhDs in 2010, increased to about 24%

* The first black- american or african- american to receive PhDs was Francis Cecil Sumner

* The first african-american president of APA was Kenneth Clark.
