Allies had more colonies, and thus resources and were able to lead a long war, and the most important tailwind for them was the moment when United States entered the war.

Explanation:

  • The United States, which had been helping the Entente financially since the beginning of the war, declared war on Germany in April 1917.
  • The US troops became more active on the Western Front only during the following year, and with their help, French General Foch forced, in March 1918, the German troops to withdraw from France.
  • In mid-September, Serbian and French troops launched an offensive against the Bulgarians and broke through the Thessaloniki Front. Soon Bulgaria and Turkey were thrown out of the war, followed by Austria-Hungary and Germany, which ended the First World War.
