What is the quotient?

Mathematics

Ray Of Light [21]3 years ago

Answer:

4x-6+\frac{21}{x+5}

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to write the polynomial in descending order

Then, grab the term with the highest  power from the polynomial and divide it by the term with highest power from the polynomial located at the other side of the division symbol (this polynomial would be x+5)

The result (4x^2 / x) = 4x

This term will be part of the solution, and will be use to start the process of division.

This process start with the previous obtained term (4x), which will be multiplied by the polynomial from the other side of the division symbol (x+5).

The result another is another polynomial

This new polynomial will be multiply by negative 1

The new polynomial is then added to the poly (4X^2+14x-9)

The result will constitute a new poly, that will be use as the remaining of the division.

Since, our remaining differs from zero, and we still have member to simplify, we repeat the step 1 using the remaining as the new poly that needs to by divided by (x+5).

The attached picture explains the whole procedure.

There are three modes of transporting material from Ontario to Florida, namely, by land, sea, or air. Also land transportation m
Semenov [28]

Answer:

0.057

0.6140

0.3158

0.0701

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Let :

P(L) = Number transported by land = half = 50% = 0.5

P(S) = number transported by sea = 30% = 0.3

P(A) = Number transported by air = (100 - (50 + 30))% = 20% = 0.2

P(H) = highway transport = 40% of land transport = 0.4 * 0.5 = 0.2

P(R) = Rail shipment =(100- 40)% = 60% of land transport = 0.6 * 0.5 = 0.3

Percentage of damaged cargo :

Let probability of damage = P(d)

P(d | H) = 0.1

P(d | R) = 0.05

P(d | S) = 0.06

P(d | A) = 0.02

1) What percentage of all cargoes may be expected to be damaged

[P(d | H)*p(H)] + [P(d | R)*p(R)] + [P(d | S)*p(S)] + [P(d | A)*p(A)]

(0.1*0.2) + (0.05*0.3) + (0.06*0.3) + (0.02*0.2) = 0.057

(2) If a damaged cargo is received, what is the probability that it was shipped by ;

land?

([P(d | H)*p(H)] + [P(d | R)*p(R)]) / [P(d | H)*p(H)] + [P(d | R)*p(R)] + [P(d | S)*p(S)] + [P(d | A)*p(A)]

((0.1*0.2) + (0.05*0.3)) / (0.1*0.2) + (0.05*0.3) + (0.06*0.3) + (0.02*0.2)

= 0.035 / 0.057

= 0.6140

By sea?

[P(d | S)*p(S)] / [P(d | H)*p(H)] + [P(d | R)*p(R)] + [P(d | S)*p(S)] + [P(d | A)*p(A)]

(0.06 * 0.3) / 0.057

= 0.3158

By air?

[P(d | A)*p(A)] / [P(d | H)*p(H)] + [P(d | R)*p(R)] + [P(d | S)*p(S)] + [P(d | A)*p(A)]

(0.02 * 0.2) / 0.057

= 0.0701

3.95174 rounded to nearest hundredths
OlgaM077 [116]

The hundredths place is where the 5 is.

Look to the right of the hundredths place and determine if the number is 5 or more or if the number is 4 or less.

In this problem, the number to the right of 5 is 1, and 1 is less than 4.

This means you can keep the 5 the same and every number after the 5 becomes imaginary zeroes.

3.95174 becomes 3.95 (rounded to nearest hundredth).

A(5 1) b(1 5) and c(-3 -1) are the vertices of triangle abc. find the LENGTH of median ad
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

\text{Length of median AD}=\sqrt{37}

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the vertices of triangle ABC. We need to find the length of median AD.

Please see the attachment for figure.

D is mid point of BC because median bisect the opposite side of triangle.

Using the formula of mid point. we get coodrinate of D

\text{Mid Point :}\left ( \frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} \right )

D is mid point of B(1,5) and C(-3,-1)

\therefore D \left ( \frac{1-3}{2},\frac{5-1}{2} \right )\Rightarrow (-1,2)

AD is median of triangle ABC. Now we find length of median AD using distance formula of two coordinate.

\text{Distance }=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

A(5,1) and D(-1,2)

AD=\sqrt{(5+1)^2+(1-2)^2}\Rightarrow \sqrt{36+1}

\text{Length of median AD}=\sqrt{37}

Thus, \text{Length of median AD}=\sqrt{37}
