Can anyone explain to me how to do box plots?! I don't understand...
kaheart [24]
This picture is a reference... The median is the middle number in the set
Q1 is the Upper quartile. You get the first quartile by taking the first half of the set of numbers. You then look and see which one is the one in the middle of that set. That's your Upper quartile.
This apples for the Q2 too. Except you're taking the last set of numbers and finding the middle of that set. This is your upper quartile.
The minimum is the first number in the set.
The maximum is the last number in the set.
Then what you're going to do is order them on the number line by putting the median on first then plot the upper and lower quartile on. Then draw a box around the Q1 and Q2. Now plot the min and max in the number line and draw lines from the box to the min and max. There you go!

5 pounds for $10.95; y pounds for $6.57 write a proportion for each phrase and solve it
dlinn [17]

5 pounds for $10.95

5lb=10.95

y pounds for $6.57

ylb=6.57

To find the value of y you use the next proportion:

\frac{y}{6.57}=\frac{5lb}{10.95}

Then, y is equal to:

\begin{gathered} y=6.57\cdot\frac{5lb}{10.95} \\  \\ y=\frac{32.85lb}{10.95} \\  \\ y=3lb \end{gathered}
