The Progressive Party hoped to accomplish several different reforms including:

1) Expansion of democratic rights- This means that the Progressives wanted to help women gain the right to vote in local, state, and national elections.

2) An efficient and well funded government- The Progressive Party heavily influenced the passage of the 16th amendment. This amendment calls for a federal income tax, allowing additional funds for the government to use for essential services.

3) Regulation of businesses- The Progressive party focused on breaking up trusts and monopolies in order to encourage competition in the market place.

How did Napoleon's invasion of Spain influence independence movements in Latin America?
Mrrafil [7]

The need for independence was growing for a long time in Latin America, but until then the Spanish forces were able to block those movements for independence.

But when Napoleon invaded Spain, the rebels saw the chance they needed. When Napoleon invaded Spain he put his brother on the Spanish throne. This was the perfect timing for secession. Spain was not able to hold its rich colonies because most of the independence movement took place at the same time.
