There are 4 pints of green paint in a gallon bucket. The paint is made from equal amounts of yellow paint and blue paint. To cre

ate a different shade of green, the mixture needs to be 80% yellow. How many pints of yellow paint need to be added to the bucket to make the mixture 80% yellow? Brandon says to get that shade of green, 6 pints of yellow paint need to be added to the bucket. Bianca says that won't work. In two or more complete sentences, explain who is correct and why. In your explanation, include the calculations to support the correct answer.

Answer:

Brandon is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Initially, there id 4 pints of green paint in the bucket.

As the green paint is made from equal amounts of yellow paint and blue paint, so, the initial amount of yellow and blue paint in the bucket  is 2 pint each.

Let x pints of yellow paint to be added to the bucket to make the desired shade.

Total amount of the paint in the bucket, after addition of x pints of yellow color become 4 + x pint, in which the ampunt of yellow color is 2+x pints.

As, the ampunt of yellow color is 80% of the total amount of the mixture, so

(4+x)\times 80\%=2+x

\Rightarrow (4+x)\times \frac{80}{100}=2+x

\Rightarrow 4(4+x)=5(2+x)

\Rightarrow x=6

So, 6 pints of yellow paint to be added to the bucket to make the desired shade.

Hence, Brandon is correct.

Jordana wrote the equation for a linear relationship as y = -8x-4. For what value of x is y equal to -16
lapo4ka [179]
So our two equations are y=-8x-4 and y=-16, and since in both equations, something equals the same y, those two are the same. So we can combine the two into -16=-8x-4. In the question, they are asking to solve for x. So to do that, you need to isolate your variable. Now for solving algebraic equations, you use reverse PEMDAS (SADMEP), meaning you add 4 to both sides to clear the -4 one the rights side to get -12=-8x. Then you divide both sides by -8 to get 12/8, which simplifies to 3/2.

A plumber's daily earnings have a mean of $145 per day with a standard deviation of $16.50.
avanturin [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

The plumber's daily earnings have a mean of $145 per day with a standard deviation of

$16.50.

We want to find the probability that the plumber earns between $135 and

$175 on a given day, if the daily earnings follow a normal distribution.

That is we want to find P(135 <X<175).

Let us convert to z-scores using

z =  \frac{x -  \mu}{ \sigma}

This means that:

P(135 \: < \: X \: < \: 175) = P( \frac{135 - 145}{16.5} \: < \: z \: < \frac{175 - 145}{ 16.5} )

We simplify to get:

P(135 \: < \: X \: < \: 175) = P( - 0.61\: < \: z \: < 1.82 )

From the standard n normal distribution table,

P(z<1.82)=0.9656

P(z<-0.61)=0.2709

To find the area between the two z-scores, we subtract to obtain:

P(-0.61<z<1.82)=0.9656-0.2709=0.6947

This means that:

P(135 \: < \: X \: < \: 175) =0.69

The correct choice is C.
