Answer:

(a) The probability that proportion of heads is between 0.30 and 0.70 is 1.

(b) The probability that proportion of heads is between 0.40 and 0.65 is 0.9759.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let <em>X</em> = number of heads.

The probability that a head occurs in a toss of a coin is, <em>p</em> = 0.50.

The coin was tossed <em>n</em> = 100 times.

A random toss's result is independent of the other tosses.

The random variable <em>X</em> follows a Binomial distribution with parameters n = 100 and <em>p</em> = 0.50.

But the sample selected is too large and the probability of success is 0.50.

So a Normal approximation to binomial can be applied to approximate the distribution of \hat p<em> </em>(sample proportion of <em>X</em>) if the following conditions are satisfied:

  1. np ≥ 10
  2. n(1 - p) ≥ 10

Check the conditions as follows:

 np=100\times 0.50=50>10\\n(1-p)=100\times (1-0.50)=50>10

Thus, a Normal approximation to binomial can be applied.

So,  \hat p\sim N(p,\ \frac{p(1-p)}{n})

\mu_{p}=p=0.50\\\sigma_{p}=\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}=0.05

(a)

Compute the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.30 and 0.70 as follows:

P(0.30

                              =P(-4

Thus, the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.30 and 0.70 is 1.

(b)

Compute the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.40 and 0.65 as follows:

P(0.40

                              =P(-2

Thus, the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.40 and 0.65 is 0.9759.

If the interest rate is 7%, how many years will it take for your bank balance to double from $1,000 to $2,000?Enter the followin
svlad2 [7]

Answer:

It will take 14.29 years for your bank balance to double from $1,000 to $2,000.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a simple interest problem.

The simple interest formula is given by:

E = P*I*t

In which E are the earnings, P is the principal(the initial amount of money), I is the interest rate(yearly, as a decimal) and t is the time.

After t years, the total amount of money is:

T = E + P.

If the interest rate is 7%, how many years will it take for your bank balance to double from $1,000 to $2,000?

We have that P = 1000, I = 0.07

We want to find t when E = 1000, so T = P + E = 2000.

E = P*I*t

1000 = 1000*0.07*t

t = \frac{1}{0.07}

t = 14.29

It will take 14.29 years for your bank balance to double from $1,000 to $2,000.

How much money does he have
Andrej [43]
C $1.00

because 1/3 of 15 coins are 5 dimes

15 - 5 = 10 nickels

10 + 5 = 15 coins.

5 dimes= .50 cents

10 nickels= . 50 cents

.50 + .50 = $1.00

$1.00 is C.

Moises ate 10% of the candies in the bag. If Moises ate 16 candies, how many candies were there total in the bag?
Viktor [21]

Answer:

160

Step-by-step explanation:

10% of the candies is 16, and to get 100% from 10% is to multiply by 10.

So 10% *10 = 100%, then by association if 16 = 10%, then 16*10 will be the total 100%.
