Answer:

(a) The probability that proportion of heads is between 0.30 and 0.70 is 1.

(b) The probability that proportion of heads is between 0.40 and 0.65 is 0.9759.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X = number of heads.

The probability that a head occurs in a toss of a coin is, p = 0.50.

The coin was tossed n = 100 times.

A random toss's result is independent of the other tosses.

The random variable X follows a Binomial distribution with parameters n = 100 and p = 0.50.

But the sample selected is too large and the probability of success is 0.50.

So a Normal approximation to binomial can be applied to approximate the distribution of \hat p (sample proportion of X) if the following conditions are satisfied:

  1. np ≥ 10
  2. n(1 - p) ≥ 10

Check the conditions as follows:

np=100\times 0.50=50>10\\n(1-p)=100\times (1-0.50)=50>10

Thus, a Normal approximation to binomial can be applied.

So, \hat p\sim N(p,\ \frac{p(1-p)}{n})

\mu_{p}=p=0.50\\\sigma_{p}=\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}=0.05

(a)

Compute the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.30 and 0.70 as follows:

P(0.30

                              =P(-4

Thus, the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.30 and 0.70 is 1.

(b)

Compute the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.40 and 0.65 as follows:

P(0.40

                              =P(-2

Thus, the probability that proportion of heads is between 0.40 and 0.65 is 0.9759.

For the following system, use the second equation to make a substitution for y in the first equation.
Anuta_ua [19.1K]

Answer:

2x+3x+4=6

Step-by-step explanation:

You'd plug in the y-equation which is y=3x+4 into the placement of the y in the first equation 2x+y=6,

Which would then result in 2x+3x+4=6, which is the answer

What is 692,119 rounded to the nearest thousand
Helen [10]

In order to get the answer to this problem you will have to go to the thousands place value and look at the number next to the place value and if the number is greater then 5 then you round up which will give you your answer.

692,119

2,119

1

= 2000

= 692,000

Which means your answer is "692,000."

Hope this helps.

The distance, y, in miles, traveled by a car for a certain amount of time, x, in hours, is shown in the graph below: A graph tit
pashok25 [27]

The best description of the car's motion as shown in the graph is: A. It travels for 1 hour, then stops for 1 hour, and finally travels again for 3 hours.

How to Analyze a Distance-Time Graph?

In a distance-time graph, an horizontal line implies no distance was covered within that time frame, meaning there was a stop.

Thus, in the graph given, the stop occurred 1 and 2, which is equivalent to an hour. From 2 to 5 on the x-axis means there was movement for up to 3 hours.

Therefore, the best description is: A. It travels for 1 hour, then stops for 1 hour, and finally travels again for 3 hours.
