There are different amnesic syndromes that can, from a clinical perspective, point to the anatomical location that helps in the diagnosis. Amnesic syndrome secondary to injury at any of the three levels referred to in the previous point has a core of clinical and neuropsychological characteristics that constitute what is generally called ”classic amnesic syndrome. ”Its diagnosis is undeniable importance in clinical practice, as well as pointing and topography of the lesion etiology.
Other types of amnesia, which are presented as selective memory deficit in different functions, but are true rarities, facilitate progress in understanding the structure and functioning of human memory.
