        1.        $-\frac{7}{8} + \frac{1}{4}$  

 

         $-\frac{7}{8} + \frac{1}{4}$; find the LCM = 8

 

             =    $\frac{-7 + 2 }{8}$        

             =     $\frac{-5}{8}$

   

       2.   $-\frac{12}{5} + 15.3$  

            Make the fraction decimal;

             $-\frac{12}{5}$   = -2.4

            So;

                        -2.4 + 15.3  = 12.9
