The answer to this question with the options presented in the problem would be A. 50.

It is said by experts that in the energy pyramid, 90% of energy is lost for life processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, and the like. So this means that only 10% will remain for the consumer to have. That would be saying that if suppose there are 500 units of energy available at the producer level of the energy pyramid, to get the units of energy available to the first-level consumer is to have the 10% of 500 which is 50.

is it possible for technological advancements to have both positive and negative effects on the world
Sergio [31]
Yes it is, because not all technological advancements will be used correctly. For example nuclear technological advancements looked like a good idea back when they invented it, but now countries are trying to get nuclear weapon and plant locations so they can possibly use that in a war against another country

A water sample could be negative for enterococcus and coliforms and still be a major public health threat. why?
melisa1 [442]
1. Enterococcus and coliforms can enter the water through feces. Although a water sample is negative for these bacteria, it could still be infected by pathogens from other sources than feces.

2. Culture media are sterilized by filtration because they could contain antibiotics or serum which deteriorate upon heat. Filtration is used in sanitation to remove large particles.

3. In the membrane filter technique, it is assumed that all viable bacteria will form colonies. This means that formed colonies develop from the viable bacteria so that the number of colonies suggests the number of bacteria.

4. E. coli is negative for Citrate and Voges-Proskauer tests, and is positive for Indole and Methyl red tests.

5. The answer is yes because eosin-methylene blue agar is inhibitory to Gram+ bacteria.
