Answer:

Tires that wear out by approximately 24307.8 miles will be replaces free of charge.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

Mean, μ = 27,000 miles

Standard Deviation, σ = 2100  miles

We are given that the distribution of life expectancy is a bell shaped distribution that is a normal distribution.

Formula:

z_{score} = \displaystyle\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

We have to find the value of x such that the probability is 0.10

P( X < x) = P( z < \displaystyle\frac{x - 27000}{2100})=0.10

Calculation the value from standard normal z table, we have,

\displaystyle\frac{x - 27000}{2100} = -1.282\\\\x = 24307.8

Tires that wear out by approximately 24307.8 miles will be replaces free of charge.

you buy 5 pairs of jeans and 10 t-shirts for 140$.your friend buys 3 pairs of jeans and 5 t-shirts for $79. write and solve a sy
timurjin [86]

J = jeans

T = t-shirts

You: 5j + 10t = 140

Friend: 3j + 5t = 79

To use elimination in this problem, multiply the second equation by -2 so that 10t and 5t can cancel out:

5j + 10t = 140

-6j - 10t = -158

We are left with -j = -18 or j = 18

Substitute 18 into any equation. I'll use the first equation:

5(18) + 10t = 140

90 + 10t = 140

10t = 50

t = 5
