We need to be aware of persuasive techniques for two obviose reasons. The first reason is that we might need to use the techniques in writing we do if we are trying to convince someone of something. The second reason is so we can tell based on reading a text what the author is trying to convince us of. This would make understanding the text easier when we know what the author is trying to persuade us to.
