Consideration is a people or follower oriented leadership style or behaviour that shows the extent to which a leader is concerned for the welfare of the member of his group.

The objective of this leadership dimension is to encourage friendship, mutual trust and interpersonal relationships with the followers or gropp members.

According to the Ohio State Studies, some of the indices for identifying Consideration in a  Leaders Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) are:

1. Being a friendly leader

2. Treating all group or team members as his/her equal

3. Interest in the personal welfare of the team members

4. Leader accessibility to the team members

Note:

In leadership there are two types of behaviours that can be exhibited by a leader in order to accomplish set goals.

2. Task oriented (initiating structure) Leadership Dimension.
