Part of cortisol’s role in the body involves passing through the plasma membrane to initiate signaling inside a cell. Describe h
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

Small and lipid soluble cortisol can pass through nonpolar core of the plasma membrane.

Explanation:

Cortisol is a lipid-soluble steroid hormone with a compact structure. The plasma membrane is a bilayer of phospholipids.

The phospholipids are amphipathic molecules with a polar head and nonpolar tails. The nonpolar tails of the two layers of phospholipids are packed away from the watery medium and make the core of the plasma membrane.

Being a lipid-soluble hormone with a small structure, cortisol can pass through the nonpolar core of the plasma membrane easily to activate its receptors and alter the gene expression.

Show different life cycle patterns with the help of near labelled diagram
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

The life cycles of all sexually reproducing plants follow a pattern of alternation between a haploid, sexual generation called gametophyte with a diploid, asexual generation called sporophyte.

This phenomenon of alternation between gametophyte (n) and sporophyte (2n) in the life cycle of a plant is called alternation of generations (Hofmeister, 1851).

Alternation of generations is of two types- isomorphic and heteromorphy. In isomorphic (or homologous) type both the alternating generations are morphologically similar, while in heteromophic (or heterologous) type of alternation of generations both the generations of life cycle are morphologically dissimilar.
