a.√ 38  = 6.164

b. √ 79 = 8.888

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Here we have , to find Approximate value of each expression shown.

We know that , A square root of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the number.  Example: 4 × 4 = 16, so a square root of 16 is 4.  Note that (−4) × (−4) = 16 too, so −4 is also a square root of 16. The symbol is √ which always means the positive square root.  Example: √36 = 6 (because 6 x 6 = 36)

a.√ 38

We know that value of √36 = 6 , and here we have √ 38 which value will be slightly greater then 6 Let's find out:

⇒ \sqrt{38}

⇒ 6.164

b. √ 79

We know that value of √81 = 9 , and here we have √ 79 which value will be slightly less then 9 Let's find out:

⇒ \sqrt{79}

⇒ 8.888

In order to find approximate value of any square root first find the nearest complete square root for that number i..e for \sqrt{79}  , we find that √81 = 9 that means \sqrt{79} will be nearly 9 but slightly less then it and so we can guess that it must be 8.8 or 8.9 something and this is how we guess the approximate value for any square root .
