Think of them as coordinates with her house being at the origin.

She starts at (3,0)

then moves to (3, 2) and then moves to (-2, 2)

and ends at (-2, 0)

From the starting pint to the ending point, she moved 5 units to the left.

Answer: B) 5 m west

Place Brunhilda at (0,0) which is the location of the intersection of the x and y axis. I'm going to label this point A.

Move 3 units to the right to arrive at point B = (3,0). Then move 2 units up to arrive at point C = (3,2). The next step is to walk 5 units to the left and you get to point D = (-2,2). Finally, we move 2 units south to get to the point E = (-2,0)

When we talk about displacement, we only care about starting and ending points. The stuff in between doesn't matter. We start at (0,0) and end at (-2,0). So the displacement is 2 units to the right or "2 meters west"

Answer: Choice C) 2 m west

Check out the attached image to see a visual of what is going on.

Edit: I mistakenly thought she started at point A. instead she starts at point B. So the answer is actually 5 meters west.

Let Y be a random variable with a density function given by
Neporo4naja [7]

From the given density function we find the distribution function,

F_Y(y)=P(Y\le y)=\displaystyle\int_{-\infty}^y f_Y(t)\,\mathrm dt=\begin{cases}0&\text{for }y

(a)

F_{U_1}(u_1)=P(U_1\le u_1)=P(3Y\le u_1)=P\left(Y\le\dfrac{u_1}3\right)=F_Y\left(\dfrac{u_1}3\right)

\implies F_{U_1}(u_1)=\begin{cases}0&\text{for }u_1

\implies f_{U_1}(u_1)=\begin{cases}\frac{{u_1}^2}{18}&\text{for }-3\le u_1\le3\\0&\text{otherwise}\end{cases}

(b)

F_{U_2}(u_2)=P(3-Y\le u_2)=P(Y\ge3-u_2)=1-P(Y

\implies F_{U_2}(u_2)=\begin{cases}0&\text{for }u_2

\implies f_{U_2}(u_2)=\begin{cases}\frac32(u_2-3)^2&\text{for }2\le u_2\le4\\0&\text{otherwise}\end{cases}

(c)

F_{U_3}(u_3)=P(Y^2\le u_3)=P(-\sqrt{u_3}\le Y\le\sqrt{u_3})=F_Y(\sqrt{u_3})-F_y(\sqrt{u_3})

\implies F_{U_3}(u_3)=\begin{cases}0&\text{for }u_3

\implies f_{U_3}(u_3}=\begin{cases}\frac32\sqrt u&\text{for }0\le u\le1\\0&\text{otherwise}\end{cases}

What is the solution to the systems of equations?<br> y= 2/3x + 3<br> x=-2
Romashka [77]

Answer:

y = 8/3

Step-by-step explanation:

x = -2

y = 2/(3*-2) + 3

y = 2/-6 + 3

y = -1/3 + 3

y = -1/3 + 9/3

y = 8/3
