C. Irrational fears, compulsion to wash repeatedly, sleepiness and nightmares

Prolonged feeling of sadness is  a characteristic of depression which is different from anxiety disorder. So it ruled out option B
Bouts of extreme happiness and depression is a characteristic of Bipolar Disorder. so it ruled out option A
