The drugs appear to produce therapeutic effects by blocking receptors sites for dopamine are the antipsychotic drugs.  Antipsychotic drugs are drugs that are used to treat symptoms of psychosis such as delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, or confused thoughts. they are used  in the treatment of schisophrenia, severe depression and severe anxiety. Additionally they are also useful at stabilizing episodes of mania in people with Bipolar disorder.
