Professor Jennings claims that only 35% of the students at Flora College work while attending school. Dean Renata thinks that th

e professor has underestimated the number of students with part-time or full-time jobs. A random sample of 77 students shows that 37 have jobs. Do the data indicate that more than 35% of the students have jobs? Use a 5% level of significance. What are we testing in this problem?

Answer:

Dean Renata thinks that the professor has underestimated the number of students with part-time or full-time jobs, is statistically evident.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we are testing whether proportion of the students at Flora College who work while attending school is 35% or more than 35%

H_0: p = 0.35\\H_a: p >0.35

(Right tailed test at 5% level of significance)

Sample proportion p = \frac{37}{77} \\=0.4805

Assuming H0 to be true, std error of proportion = \sqrt{0.35*0.65/77} \\=0.0544

p difference = 0.1305

Z = test statistic = 2.40

p value for one tailed = 0.0082

Since p < 0.05 we reject H0

Dean Renata thinks that the professor has underestimated the number of students with part-time or full-time jobs, is statistically evident.

Factor completely y^2-xy-56x^2
olga2289 [7]
You can factor this out by thinking of the factors of 56 that have a sum of -1. 7 and 8 are factors of 56 and to get a sum of -1, 8 should be negative. 7 + -8 = -1

So y^{2} - xy -  56x^{2} factored out is (y+7x)(y-8x)

We can check this using FOIL
F = (y)(y) = y^{2}
O = (y)(-8x) = -8xy
I = (7x)(y) = 7xy
L = (7x)(-8x) = -56x^{2}
y^{2} - 8xy + 7xy - 56x^{2} Combine like terms
y^{2} - xy - 56x^{2}

What is the rule of this pattern<br> 6,30,150,750
Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

a_1 = 6

a_n = 5 × a_n-1

Step-by-step explanation:

30/6 = 5

150/30 = 5

750/150 = 5

The rule is to start with 6 and multiply each number by 5 to get the next number.

a_1 = 6

a_n = 5 × a_n-1
