Hello there!

The answer is C.

I will explain to you how I came to this answer.

•First of all, I counted the turning points. There are two, so that means this polynomial function has THREE roots. (# of turning points+1=number of roots.)

•Next, look to see how many times the function crosses the x-axis. This is the number of REAL solutions. In this case, there is one point at which the f(x) is crossing the x-axis so there is one real solution.

•Since there is one real solution there has to be 2 imaginary roots. (Total # of solutions-real solutions=imaginary solutions)

NOTE: the turning points are where the increasing intervals change to decreasing and the decreasing change to increasing. The first derivative at these points is 0.

I hope this helps!
Best wishes~

The water works commission needs to know the mean household usage of water by the residents of a small town in gallons per day.
valina [46]

Answer:

A sample of 179 is needed.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have that to find our \alpha level, that is the subtraction of 1 by the confidence interval divided by 2. So:

\alpha = \frac{1 - 0.85}{2} = 0.075

Now, we have to find z in the Ztable as such z has a pvalue of 1 - \alpha.

That is z with a pvalue of 1 - 0.075 = 0.925, so Z = 1.44.

Now, find the margin of error M as such

M = z\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

In which \sigma is the standard deviation of the population and n is the size of the sample.

A previous study found that for an average family the variance is 1.69 gallon?

This means that \sigma = \sqrt{1.69} = 1.3

If they are using a 85% level of confidence, how large of a sample is required to estimate the mean usage of water?

A sample of n is needed, and n is found for M = 0.14. So

M = z\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

0.14 = 1.44\frac{1.3}{\sqrt{n}}

0.14\sqrt{n} = 1.44*1.3

\sqrt{n} = \frac{1.44*1.3}{0.14}

(\sqrt{n})^2 = (\frac{1.44*1.3}{0.14})^2

n = 178.8

Rounding up

A sample of 179 is needed.

Answer:

new price= $2.40

Step-by-step explanation:

20%= 20/100= 1/5

$3.00/5= 00.60

1/5 of the price is being subtracted from $3.00

$00.60 is 1/5

3.00-.60= 2.40

You sell instruments at a Caribbean music festival. You earn $326 by selling 12 sets of maracas, 6 sets of claves, and xx djembe
ELEN [110]

Answer: An equation we can use to find the number of djembe drums you sold be

12m+6c+dxx=$326

Step-by-step explanation:

Let price of maracas be m

Let the price of claves be c

Let the price of djembe drums be d

Number of maracas = 12 sets

Number of clavas = 6 sets

Number of djembe drums be xx

Total earned amount = $326

According to question,

12m+6c+dxx=$326

Hence, an equation we can use to find the number of djembe drums you sold be

12m+6c+dxx=$326

For A (1, –1), B (–1, 3), and C (4, –1), find a possible location of a fourth point, D, so that a parallelogram is formed using
katrin [286]

The possible coordinates for the vertex D of the parallelogram could be (-4, 3)

It is given that A(1, –1), B (–1, 3), and C (4, –1) are the three vertices of the parallelogram.

Let us assume that the vertices are in the order A, C, B, and D where the coordinates of D are (a, b).

In this scenario, if we join AB and CD, they will become the diagonals of the parallelogram ABCD.

According to the properties of a parallelogram, diagonals bisect each other.

Hence, mid-point of AB = mid-point of CD

Now, according to the mid-point theorem, if mid-point of AB is given as (x,y), then,

x = (x₁ + x₂)/2 and y = (y₁ + y₂)/2

Here, for AC,

x₁ = 1, y₁ = -1

x₂ = -1, y₂ = 3

Then, x = ( 1 - 1)/2 and y = (-1 + 3)/2

(x, y) ≡ (0, 1)  ............. (1)

Since (x, y) is also the mid-point of CD, we also have,

x₁ = 4, y₁ = -1

x₂ = a, y₂ = b

Then, x = (4 + a)/2 and y = (-1 + b)/2

(x, y) ≡ ((4 + a)/2, (-1 + b)/2) ................... (2)

From (1) and (2),

(4+a)/2 = 0 and (-1+b)/2 = 1

4+a = 0 and (-1+b) = 2

a = -4 and b = 3

Hence, the fourth vertex D of the parallelogram can be possibly located at (-4, 3)
