Biology

Chromosomes are the thread-like structure found in the nuclei of both animal and plant cells. They are made of protein and one molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Organisms grow by undergoing cell division to produce new cells and replace older, wornout cells. During this cell division, DNA must remain intact and keep its even distributionthroughout the cells. Chromosomes are important to this process to ensure the DNA is accurately replicated.

How does a mutation cause a change in a protein?
Damm [24]

Mutation is a sudden change that occurs in the gene sequences. Mutation can have both positive or negative effect on living organisms. It can lead to disorders and also one of the ways that causes evolution of the species.

Due to mutation, the gene sequences changes due to which the amino acids encoded during the process of translation also changes. If different proteins are formed then the function that was supposed to be performed by the proteins of non-mutated genes varies.
