Answer:

The given statement is false.

Explanation:

Hyperventilation is a condition when the rate of breathing increases resulting in the loss of more carbon dioxide from the body than the amount that the body can produce., thus dis balancing the equilibrium between the oxygen intake and the removal of carbon dioxide from the body and reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide from the blood.

With the reduced concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood the equilibrium of the carbonic acid in the blood is disturbed resulting in increase of hydrogen concentration in the blood.

Thus Hyperventilation causes reduction of carbon dioxide from the blood. Hence the statement is false as retention of carbon dioxide will cause increase in concentration of carbon dioxide.

The nurse determines that the teaching is effective when the students state that the preterm newborn has greater surface area in proportion to weight. The correct option is D.

What is a preterm newborn?

Preterm babies are those born early before the 37th week of pregnancy. Preterm birth is split into subcategories based on gestational age: exceptionally premature less than 28 weeks extremely premature 28 to 32 weeks

Premature babies may experience more health problems at conception and later in life than full-term babies.

Premature babies are more likely to have long-term intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as issues with their lungs, brain, eyes, and other organs.

When the educators state that the preterm newborn has a larger surface area in proportion to weight, the nurse knows the teaching is effective.

Thus, the correct option is D.

Which one of the lung capacities is the smallest?
Lena [83]

Answer:

FRC is the smallest among the listed lung capacities.

Explanation:

The Functional Residual Volume (FRC), Total Lung Capacity (TLC), Vital Capacity (VC), Inspiratory Capacity (IC) can be determined as,

1. FRC = ERV + RV

2. TLC = ERV+ RV + IRV + TV

3. VC = ERV + IRV + TV

4. IC = IRV + TV

where,

ERV - Expiratory Reserve Volume,

TV- Tidal Volume,

IRV - Inspiratory Reserve Volume,

RV - Residual Volume

Once the values are calculated based on the above mentioned formulas, it can be noted that, FRC is the smallest among the listed four.

Concerning half-life of hormones
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer: a. lipid-soluble hormones generally have a longer half-life.

Explanation:

The hormones are the chemical substances which are produced by the glands it in the body to conduct a specialized function in the body. The biological half life of the hormone can be define as the time it takes so as to reduce half of it's functional or physiological activity.

The lipid soluble hormone does not easily solubilize in the body fluids. It is easily diffuse through the cell membrane and performs it action. It generally have a longer half life. The examples of the such hormones includes progesterone, testosterone and aldosterone.
