System of equations, special case infinitely many solutions?????

Mathematics
1 answer:
Mashcka [7]3 years ago
4 0

One possible system is

1x + 3y = 4

2x + 6y = 8

Note how 2 is twice as large as 1, 6 is twice as large as 3, and 8 is twice as large as 4.

In other words, the second equation is the result of multiplying both sides of the first equation by 2.

1x+3y = 4

2*(1x+3y) = 2*4

2x+6y = 8

Effectively the two equations in bold are the same which produces the same line. The two lines overlap perfectly to intersect infinitely many times. An intersection is a solution.

Jake started biking to the coffee shop traveling 8 mph, after some time the bike got a flat so Jake walked the rest of the way,
melisa1 [442]

Jake travel to the coffee shop by bike with speed of 8mph is  56mile and when bike got a flat so Jake walked 4mile

How to find the speed by biking and walking ?

let b = time spent biking

then   8-b =time spent walking

Write distance equation

dist=speed *time

So bike distance + walk distance =60mile

8b+4(8-b)=60\\8b+32-4b=60\\4b=60-32\\b=28/4\\\\b=7hrs

Then 8-7=1 hrs spent walking.

For cross check the answer find that actual distance for each

8(7)=56mi\\4(1)=4mi\\-------\\total distance=60mile

It depends on your computer. If your computer lags easily, I suggest writing a few docs.

I need help with 15 & 14
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

14. Agree. Draw one that is 2 by 21.

15. 192

Step-by-step explanation:

14.) I agree. This parallelogram has an area of 6*7 = 42. Drawing a parallelogram with side lengths which two numbers (not 6 and 7) that multiply to 42 would have the same area. 2 * 21 = 42. You can draw a parallelogram that is 2 by 21 and it will have the same area.

15.) The area of a parallelogram is found by A = b*h. Since the base and height are 8 and 3, then the area is 8*3 = 24. One parallelogram is 24. Since there are 8 in total to make the shape, then the area is 8*24 = 192.
