The cost of having a package delivered has a base fee of $9.70. Every pound over 5 lbs cost an additional $0.46 per pound. Write

a linear model that represents the cost, C, for the total weight, w, in pounds of the package. Assume 5 lbs.
a.
C = 9.7w + 0.46
c.
C = 0.46w + 9.7
b.
C = 0.46w + 12
d.

<u>Answer:</u>

Option(d)

C = 0.46(w - 5) + 9.7

<u>Explanation:</u>

We are given that the delivery cost of any package has a fixed value of 9.7$ and an additional value for every 5 lbs extra weight and the additional value is given to be 0.46.

The equation for total cost C for given total weight w can be written by

sum of fixed value and every 5 extra lbs

which can be represented by the equation

C= 0.46(w-5) + 97.

Hence,  this represents a linear model for the given data.

(1+tanx)/(sinx+cosx)=secx
jek_recluse [69]

\frac{1+\tan x}{\sin x+\cos x}=\sec x is proved

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that,

\frac{1+\tan x}{\sin x+\cos x}=\sec x  ------- (1)

First we will simplify the LHS and then compare it with RHS

\text { L. H.S }=\frac{1+\tan x}{\sin x+\cos x}  ------ (2)

\text {We know that } \tan x=\frac{\sin x}{\cos x}

Substitute this in eqn (2)

=\frac{1+\frac{\sin x}{\cos x}}{\sin x+\cos x}

On simplification we get,

=\frac{\frac{\sin x+\cos x}{\cos x}}{\sin x+\cos x}

=\frac{\sin x+\cos x}{\cos x} \times \frac{1}{\sin x+\cos x}

Cancelling the common terms (sinx + cosx)

=\frac{1}{c o s x}

We know secant is inverse of cosine

=\sec x=R . H . S

Thus L.H.S = R.H.S

\frac{1+\tan x}{\sin x+\cos x}=\sec x

Hence proved
