y = quarters

x + y = 49

.05x + .25y = 8.85

x + y = 49. = y= -x + 49

.05x +.25( -x + 49 ) = 8.85
.05x + -.25x + 12.25 = 8.85
-.2x + 12.25 = 8.85
- 12.25. -12.25

-.2x = -3.4
÷-.2x. ÷-.2x
x=17

x + y = 49
17 + y = 49
-17. -17

y=32
