The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a company of the United States Department of Labor. Congress founded the company below the Occupational Safety and Health Act, which President Richard M. Nixon approved into law on December 29, 1970. OSHA's purpose is to ensure safe and healthy functioning circumstances for working men and women by placing and implementing rules and by giving coaching, outreach, education, and support.
